Goodness

I had a turning page sort of day recently where I just sat back in awe and was able to be a witness to my own life story. For so long I have been clinging to the verses:

“The work of righteousness is peace, and the result of righteousness is quietness and confidence forever. My people will live free from worry in secure homes and quiet resting places.” Isaiah 32:17-18 TPT

“They will never be hungry or thirsty. Neither scorching sun nor desert wind will hurt them, for he, the Loving One, will guide them and lead them to restful, renewing streams of water.” Isaiah 49:10 TPT

And as so often happens in my experience, if you cling to the Word of God long enough, eventually it will become your reality and here is where the Word becomes flesh in us as it was meant to be. For me this looked like being at the beach with my daughters and recognizing we were in absolute perfect peace doing normal peaceful things and no one was experiencing anxiety.

For the three of us this was remarkable indeed. It was apparent to me that we had finally left trauma brain behind and our nervous systems were regulating normally. Instead of waiting for the next shoe to drop we were resting in the arms of Life.

This is the fruit of years of work finally being seen in the ability to exist in peace as a family. A true miracle indeed and testimony of God's faithfulness to do what no man can do and be the Prince of Peace we need. For peace is the result of righteousness happening:

It was in this place of peace that a revelation came to me in part thanks to something I heard Wendy Backlund say:

Goodness is a powerful and concrete reality whereas evil is a powerless and transitory substance.

This means that Goodness holds all the power and authority of Heaven and Earth while evil doesn't. Goodness is REAL, and CONCRETE and STABLE. Goodness will outlast any evil that comes our way. Which means if we keep focusing on and cultivating Goodness then we will see it become our reality for God's Word promises that ONLY goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives and we WILL dwell in the house of the Lord forever! (Psalm 23:6 TPT/NKJV)

Goodness is a concrete reality built upon the intentional pursuit of righteousness and peace. I am learning to live from this reality and here I've taken new territory because I do believe that decades of delight are catching up to me!

“We’ve been overwhelmed with grief; come now and overwhelm us with gladness. Replace our years of trouble with decades of delight.”
